The Stars Ignite

Without the stars
human Life
is an endless expanse
of barren beige
sands unruffled by
the slightest thought.

When stars like glinting diamonds
catch in the net of longing hearts,
cast into the gleaming chill and
raven waves
of the midnight sky,
we tiny beings stand upright
to touch the ebony and flame.
Our hearts burst open
to conceive and
give birth
to dreams.
